Reconciliation statement

We live, gather, work and play on the unceded lands of First Nations peoples across this continent, and we pay our deepest respects to the Traditional Custodians of these lands.

We honour Elders past and present — especially the older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, whose voices echo through generations with wisdom, strength, and love.

As an organisation committed to equity, dignity, and the visibility of all older women, we stand in solidarity with First Nations women in their calls for voice, recognition, and justice. We acknowledge the enduring impacts of colonisation, dispossession, and systemic racism, and we commit to listening, learning, and acting in ways that centre Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge, leadership, and sovereignty.

Reconciliation is not a moment, but a shared journey of truth-telling, healing, and justice.

We honour the strength of older Indigenous women who carry the stories, languages, and spirit of their ancestors. Their leadership — often quiet but powerful — holds families and communities together and shows us the meaning of dignity, resistance, and hope.

Through the violence of colonisation, the pain of dispossession, and the burden of systemic injustice, they have held firm — preserving culture, raising generations, and leading with grace.

We commit ourselves to walking gently and with purpose alongside our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander sisters.

We will lift up their stories, learn from their leadership, and stand with them in the ongoing fight for justice, recognition, and healing.

This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
