Love for Lismore

A little caring and sharing can go a long way

Love in a bag delivered!

The response to do something for the older women of Lismore has been overwhelming. With your contribution, we were able to put together 100 care bags which we named “Love in a Bag” that, in a small way, expressed our solidarity with the older women in Lismore and surrounds at this difficult time.

We travelled to Lismore on Monday 16th May to start distributing the “Love in a Bag”. We were shocked by the devastation we witnessed and the fact that people are still living in unsafe and temporary accommodation. While we watched the scenes of devastation of the floods and its aftermath on television, nothing prepared us for what we saw on the ground.

We partnered with Lismore based organisation, the KOORI MAIL and their amazing manager Naomi Moran. This national Indigenous newspaper has been leading recovery efforts in Lismore through their makeshift centre “The Hub”.

We also partnered with the Evening Branch of the CWA Lismore. They will take some of your bags to share on their rounds to isolated older women who need some support.

We received many donations of goods, money and time. Groups coordinated collections and we rallied together to make just a little difference and we have! Your kind donation will be spread across Lismore in our little hug in a bag.

We thank you for your generosity in supporting this project.
