The Older Women’s Network Sydney was formed in 2001, providing a supportive environment in which the social, political and friendship needs of older women are met.
When Noreen Hewett and Barbara Burnham came to the Sutherland Shire they researched the needs of older women, aged 55 years and over, and found that social isolation of older women was a priority that needed to be addressed.
OWN Theatre Group leapt into being in 1988 on the lawns of Parliament House in Canberra where a small band of feisty older women made a lively presentation of original skits and songs.
