Join us for this special event.

You are invited to an Older Women’s Network NSW event held in conjuction with the OWN NSW 2021 Annual State Conference & AGM.

Now IS the Time! Building Momentum for Change for A More Inclusive Future.

We will harness the energy and momentum of these past months and address the underlying, structural drivers of gender inequality and economic instability in this country.

Our keynote speaker, Emma Dawson, will dissect the issues of discrimination.

Join the panel discussion on Tackling Disadvantage Now & Into the Future with panelists:

Emma Dawson – Executive Director of thinktank Per Capita Australia.
Nareen Young – Professor, Indigenous Policy (Indigenous Workforce Diversity), Jumbunna Institute, UTS Sydney
Maha Abdo OAM – CEO, Muslim Women Australia
Hayley Foster – Domestic & Family Violence Advocate

We also plan to debate the issues around Voluntary Assisted Dying. The landscape in Australia has changed with three parliamentary inquiries finding Australia’s existing end-of-life laws inadequate. Stay after lunch and hear the Hon. Elizabeth Evatt AC and others in conversation with Caroline Baum on this subject.

We will be entertained by the OWN Theatre Group with exclusive highlights from their new show “Not Dead Yet” and the Women’s Choir “The Mooncatchers” who will sing away our woes with songs of joy, life, work, loss and the universe!

Be part of the change.

Women are traditional spinners - of tales, of cloth, or many fine things. May we in OWN continue to spin strong webs of support which create a safety net for older women's emotional and physical wellbeing; and create a sling from which to catapult into the wider community older women's aspirations for a better world.
