During COVID we took our classes online. The success of these and our ability to reach out to regional women has seen us continue some classes online.
You can be based anywhere and you don’t have to be a member to sign up for any of these activities which will be carried out through Zoom. However, if the events are oversubscribed, preference will be given to OWN members.
Just write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you need instructions of how to set Zoom up on your smartphone or laptop. It’s easy and free to join. All the activities are also free to join.
All events are hosted by the Older Women’s Network (OWN) NSW using Zoom.
While we cannot meet face to face all classes are free! Sign up for classes below via Humanitix and you will receive more information on joining.

Feldenkrais with margaret
Every Monday at 10:00 AM online and at Newtown.

Regardless of your age, the Feldenkrais Method can help you to perform everyday physical activities with greater ease.
Through increasing internal awareness, the subtle movements of the Feldenkrais Method teach you to break free of habitual, restrictive movement patterns and relearn easier ways of moving.
gentle Yoga with jo

Enjoy gentle stretches, breathing and relaxation practices from the comfort and safety of your own home.
Set up your your yoga mat (or large towel if you don’t have a yoga mat) and join us online.
New Moves with pauline
Weekly on Mondays at Newtown and
Online Thursdays at 2:30pm

An online movement class that you can join from the safety of your own home.
New Moves is a fun, gentle, mixed method movement class specifically designed for the mature female body.
New Moves addresses physical, emotional and psychological health.
Every class is a surprise so you can join anytime. All ages and fitness levels welcome. Laughter and good music guaranteed – come on, give it a go!
Writing with rivka

A creative writing workshop with award winning playwright, Rivka Hartman.
Connect with a group of women who share the love of writing. Whether you want to write something to share with the group or enjoy listening and giving feedback – all are welcome.
The group meets fortnightly to develop writing skills through supportive and constructive feedback.
Chair Yoga with Jo

Did you know that you can do gentle yoga on the chair?
Join Jo as she leads us through some simple and easy-to-do moves while seated on the chair.
Tai Chi with Ric
Online Tuesdays at 11:30 am and
at Newtown Friday at 9:30 am

Join us for online Tai Chi with Ric. This ancient Chinese art is exercise for the health of your mind and body. The control of movement and breath generates internal energy and mindfulness. The format and the pace of the class is tailored to the abilities and needs of participants.
Crafternoon with Lyndell
On Facebook (Crafternoon is also back meeting at Newtwon Wellness Centre on the 1st and third Saturday of the month at 2pm)
Crafternoon on Facebook has been set up as a place where you can support each other in your creative endeavours. You can show-off the things you are making or have made. Lyndell will be available if you have any crafting questions or problems.
Please join in by “commenting” on the Facebook page with photos and words about your project or to support a fellow crafty person.
Isolating can be a great time for us to catch up on some crafting and making. A time to get some work done on that UFO (unfinished object) or PHD (project half done). Or perhaps you want to start learning a new craft.
Making, crafting, stitching … they are great methods of ‘mindful meditation’ … a lovely (and productive) way to keep calm at this time of high anxiety.
African Drumming with Sal
Newtown Wednesday at 2:00 pm

You’ll learn a multi-layered African rhythm and feel the way the parts work with each other under the direction of an experienced teacher and facilitator.
Build confidence, technique and etiquette. Enjoy an open jam session for free expression at the end. Be surprised by what you learn in a small amount of time.
iRest Yoga Nidra Mindfulness Sessions
Tuesdays 20th of April to 11th of May 3:00pm to 4:30pm.

It’s a simple form of meditation designed for everyday living that provides you with tools to help you relax deeply, release stress, increase resiliency, improve your interpersonal relationships and provide you with greater mastery and control in your life.
